Alcohol Free Cocktails
I love calling something "Alcohol free" because what it means to me - which is so true - is that you are free from alcohol. 1 month free to be exact:)
I have found that I do sometimes miss having a drink in hand when it hits Friday or there is a braai on or any other event really that usually featured alcohol.
My fave ready to drink non alcoholic beverage is by far "The Duchess" G&T's. I love that they taste exactly like a G&T but also that they are sugar free...so literally NO GUILT.
Sometimes I like to take it a step further and make a cocktail for myself.
These are my current favourites:
This is SO refreshing and tasty...
This makes 2 drinks:
1 lime, cut into 4.
1 handful of fresh mint
1 tbsp per glass - home-made honey syrup (you do this by simmering 1 part honey to 2 parts water in a pan until the water dissolves - it lasts for ages in the fridge!)
Start by muddling your limes with your mint - in a pestle and mortar. If you don't have one you could do it in a bowl with the spoon.
You want the mint leaves to break up and mix with the limes to get that flavour released.
Add half to each glass
Add 1 TBSP honey syrup to the glass, and top up with soda and ice.
The second drink I have been making is a herby G&T concoction - really refreshing.
Per glass, you'll need:
1 x duchess virgin g&t, OR plain tonic water
1 sprig fresh rosemary
1 slice lemon
1 tot lime cordial
Add to glass, top up with ice and enjoy!
