Happy 2016 everyone! I have been back home (small town called knysna) for the holidays and internet signal and speed there has not caught up with the times!So posting a recipe was just taking too long, but I also just took some time out and spent most days at the river and with family.
2016 is going to be a very different year for me! I wont say why now but soon.
We made this trifle for xmas eve dessert and it was everything you looking for a in a trifle….moist, boozy, lots of cream and fresh fruit!
Berry and White chocolate Trifle recipe:
1 punnet fresh raspberries
1 punnet fresh strawberries, washed and sliced
1 tin strawberries
1 litre whipped cream
1 glass sherry
1 slab white chocolate, grated
1 cup crushed meringue (i bought them made and crushed them)
1 litre vanilla custard
2 trifle round sponges (or you can slice up a sponge and use slices instead, you need enough for 2 layers)
Start with the round sponge or slices of sponge, in a trifle bowl. Pour half the sherry over.
Then add a layer of fresh and tinned strawberries, top with some white chocolate, then custard, then cream.
Now add another layer of sponge and sherry and then the rest. Top off with fresh raspberries, meringue and extra white chocolate. Refrigerate for a few hours or overnight.
